Building Inspectors of Hawkes Bay

In the rural South Island of New Zealand with a group of amateur building inspectors call themselves the Building Inspectors of Hawkes Bay Society. They have been operating for the past eleven years and are led by John Ward. The Society is an informal group with members from all walks of life and they get together for a number of different events on a regular basis. If you live in Hawke’s Bay and you would like to become a member of the society, then you can do so by contacting them. They also have an online website that you can visit if you are interested.

Building Inspectors of Hawkes Bay

I have personally been a member of the Hawke’s Bay Building Inspection Society for about ten years now and I must say that it is a great place to be. There are only about five or six of us total, but we get together once every month and discuss all of the issues that come up. Sometimes we may even hold seminars for other members to attend if they wish. We also have a very strict Code of Professional Practice that all of our inspectors go through. We have about thirteen inspectors now and most of them are part time. Many of us now work full time jobs, so it can be hard to keep up with all the demands that the society puts on us.

The one thing that I do enjoy about being a member is that we can talk about anything under the sun. If something happens on the site that is not up to code, then we can let everyone know and the community will be able to enjoy the property fully with no safety concerns. I also really like getting to meet new people and learning about new things each week. It’s a great feeling being part of something that you have a hand in building.
